My excitment for this was tempered by all the mediocre reviews. My Harmony Elite died and replacments are not available so I took a shot with the Sofabaton. I have a semi complex home theater(85" TV, 11 channel atmos, HD Bluray, XBoX, Apple 4k, Tivo etc.) up and running with this remote in just a couple hours. Recognized all my devices. Easy to tweak with delays, discrete power codes etc. There is a bit of a learning curve and set up can be intimidating if you are new to these types of remotes. If you are a Harmony power user you will be right at home. There were a few quirks but to be honest not any more than you would encounter with a complex Harmony set up. Super impressed so far for such a new product. Disclaimer have not tested all functions such as code learning and the voice stuff.
I had 3 Harmony Smart Hub for many years and really liked them. I currently purchase this SofaBaton X1 to replace my Logitech Universal Remote with Hub, I was very impressed when I unboxed this remote. Download the SofaBaton app and log in, it's very easy to set up and adding devices. The database is powerful. I added my Xfinity cable box, Samsung TV, Yamaha Receiver and soundbar were immediately represented and added without a fuss. If they're not in the lists, you can manually learning the remote functions to the system via the hub. The remote also functions with both WiFi , bluetooth and IR devices. Once you sync the X1 remote with the hub, you can create activities, bundling different devices /activities gives sequences of orders you can program . Switching between devices is as easy as scrolling a rollerball and pressing it, and a list of advanced controls for every device can be found with an additional click of the rollerball. Range is fantastic and set up with the app is pretty easy once you understand the concept of the hub based remote. It really is amazing! Highly recommend.
This is so nice to have a single, easy to see, hold and use remote control and best of all, no batteries required!!! It has an app to use it with that makes using and programming it much easier than a different model/brand I’ve used in the past. All of the buttons light up, making it easier to use in the dark, and the screen on the remote allows you to select tons of other options in comparison to standard ones. I’ve had no major issues with programming my other remotes to this and I was very happy to say goodbye to the 10 I used to need just to setup movie night to be able to control everything with this one single remote! You don’t even need to put a key finder on this because it is built in!
I bought the X1 to replace a URC Mx-980 laptop programmable remote. I had been having trouble getting the older remote to consistently operate my TV and Apple TV. The X1 controls the Apple TV via Bluetooth, and works flawlessly. I was able to get it to operate both my LG Nano TV and my Yamaha amp as well via IR. Compared to the URC remote, setup for my system was a breeze, and the remote works perfectly. While the code base is not complete for the Yamaha receiver, learning codes from the remote is super simple. I would love to have the remote turn on when you pick it up, it seems to work without having to press buttons twice. Build quality feels good, though I could see a need for more than 2 IR ports for more complex setups, it works perfectly well for my needs.
